  • Working with an established and experienced design team, Similar Ideas were brought in for our creative expertise to help enhance the refurbishment of this period office building.

Our brief was to create an office interior that would appeal to the Chiltern Firehouse Set, considered to customers of the nearby Chiltern Firehouse restaurant, i.e. modern, casual and considered.

We kept the palette refined, specifying high quality fixtures and fittings, combining them with existing retained and upgraded period features.

This period office building was originally a series of linked rooms and whilst some opening up was necessary, a conscious effort was made to retain the feeling of the original cellular spaces. To address possible fragmentation of the space, we used varying but related colour palettes in different areas to visually connect the rooms.

This approach ensured a considered appearance across the entire floor, whilst still allowing us to deploy colour and texture differently depending upon use, with offices being more subtle and kitchenettes and toilets more bold and colourful.

Additionally, we designed a series of cabinets to mask the existing large, fan coil units. These were carefully detailed using painted timber to ensure they were in keeping with the heritage aspects of their surroundings.
